Anna Mae Hillsman, age 89, passed away Sunday November 1st 2015 at Barton County Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Anna Mae was born to Oscar Lee and Vina Marie (Kelly) Rippee, Dec 12, 1925 in Boise, Idaho. She attended college in Springfield, MO, and began teaching in a one room school house in Schell City, MO, when she was 18. She was always learning new skills and taking on new projects. She worked in a shirt factory, and a restaurant and she even became an E.M.T. She had her own beauty shop for many years and made a home for her family along side her many careers. Anna Mae served as the president of the PTA. She was a member of the Red Hatters and was always involved in her Church. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lamar. She was a great seamstress and was always making clothing and crafts for friends and family.
She was married to T.C. Hammond April 28, 1945 and they had three children. T.C. passed away in 1991. She married Max Hillsman November 10, 1998. Max also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children Carolyn Ann Rosenberry and husband Lyle of Kokomo , IN, Shirley Jean Fowler and husband Ed of Sheldon and Stephen Mark Hammond and wife Ann of Cedar Rapids , IA. Also surviving are 2 grand daughters; Jennifer Hurt and Julia Sams, 6 grandsons; Garrett, Ethan and Tom Hammond, Jeff Rosenberry, Tim and Jeremy Fowler; 11 great grandchildren; Elizabeth, Matthew, Sophia and Nathan Sams, Brooklyn and Olivia Rosenberry, Ian, Hailey, Tanner, Teagan and Tinley Fowler and a sister, Wilma Marie Brown of St. Louis, MO.
