Marjorie Ann (Prince) Workizer, age 90, beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, joined her Lord and Savior and her loving husband Arnold on November 2, 2015.
Born on January 19, 1925 in Joplin, Missouri. She was one of ten siblings of the late Ivan and Treva (Boyd) Prince, Margie was married to Arnold Workizer for 60 years until his passing.
She was a 1943 graduate of Joplin High School and a resident of Joplin for over 50 years and Carthage for 30 years. The last 3 years she resided at Maple Wood Care Center in Springfield where she was very happy and a favorite of everyone, raising the spirits of all particularly the dedicated staff. She was a Bell Telephone operator in Joplin and Lawrence, Kansas.
She earned her cosmetology license and worked in the wig department of Ramsay's Department Store in Carthage. Margie took great pride in styling wigs for all of her customers. She was very athletic enjoying water skiing, swimming, diving and table tennis. She absolutely loved to sing and spent many years in a variety of choirs including the MSSU Choral Society and Concert Choral. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Joplin and Carthage and also attended First Community Church in Joplin.
Margie was always very attentive to others needs. She was a devoted care giver, blood donor supreme and joy to be around. She will be greatly missed by family and friends but the special memories of her wonderful life will never be forgotten. She would say "It's all about family" often.
Her life reflected a priority on family and faith. She and her husband loved to follow Kansas University basketball, which was his alma mater.
Survivors include two sons, Dave Workizer and wife Peggy of Ozark, MO, Dale Workizer of Springfield, MO; three grandchildren, Randy Workizer and wife Tina of Ozark, Chad Workizer and wife Michele of Ozark, Robyn Cole and husband Brandon of Ozark; seven great-grandchildren, Megan, Davin, Natalie, Kylie, and Audrey Workizer of Ozark; Austin and Hailey Cole of Ozark, and several nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Workizer of Joplin; six brothers, John, Roland, Russell, Tom and Bob Prince all of Joplin, Paul Prince of Oswego, Illinois; and three sisters, Betty Smith of Joplin, Peggy Lemmons of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mary Kriekhaus of Joplin.
Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9th hosted by Central Christian Church of Joplin.
Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate.
Graveside services and interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Parker Mortuary.
