Alfred Emmery Virden, age 83, passed away Monday, February 27, at his home in Joplin.
Alfred was born September 6, 1933 in Prescott, AR and was the son of the late Thomas Fredrick Virden and Eula Mae Palmer Virden.
He married Patricia Ann Arnold on May 19, 1955 in Austin, TX. She survives at the home.
Additional Survivors include a daughter Vickie Sill and husband Rick, Webb City; one grandson Adam Fast and wife Rebecca, Lawrence, KS.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
Alfred served in the United States Air Force for 22 years as a flight engineer, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He also served the state of Arkansas as an employment placement counselor for 16 years.
Graveside services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
