Twyla Nadine Landrith, age 90, Joplin, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at her home after an illness.
Twyla was born August 24, 1926 in Pittsburg, Kansas to the late Earl Benschoter and Letha Cunningham Benschoter and had lived in Carthage until moving to Joplin in 1962.
She was a graduate of Carthage High School in 1944, attended Drury University in Springfield and obtained a Master's degree in Education from Pittsburg State Teachers College. Twyla worked for the Joplin school district at Emerson Elementary School for fourteen years. Following retirement, she enjoyed travelling during the winter months in her mobile home to McAllen, Texas. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Joplin.
In addition to her parents, Twyla was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas B. Landrith; and a son, Jeffrey Landrith.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Landrith, Joplin, James Landrith, Carthage; three grandchildren, April, Michael, James; four great grandchildren, Kendall, Maxwell, Elijah, and Grayson and several extended family members, including her cousins, Colleen Nicholls, Washington, Pennsylvania and Janet Evans, Carthage.
Memorial services are planned for Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Dr. Dave Burgess will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services at the mortuary.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
