Robert Emerson (Bob) Blackwood, 65, died October 16, 2014 at Freeman West in Joplin following a lengthy illness.
He was born September 17, 1949 in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, the son of Bob Tom and Betty Gene (Emerson) Blackwood. Bob worked as a comptroller in the U.S. Army and the City of El Paso, Texas. He returned to Neosho in 2005 after retiring from 20 years of service in the military. Bob was an avid golfer and was a member of the DAV, VFW 4142, and the First Christian Church.
Bob married Phyllis Becknell on June 20, 1970 in Neosho, and she survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters, Lara Pickrel, and husband, Chuck, of Liberty, Missouri and Sara Blackwood, and companion, Joe Aron, of Euless, Texas; one brother, John Keibel of Vashon, Washington; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Becknell of Neosho. He was preceded in death by his parents.
