Jack Brooks

John J. "Jack" Brooks age 85 of Carthage, MO. passed away October 11, 2014 at his home.

 He was born August 28, 1929 in Jasper County, Missouri to John J. and Gladys (Hall) Brooks. He attended New Hope School, Carthage High School, S.M.S. college in Springfield and the University of Missouri at Columbia. Jack worked as an electrical engineer for Allgeier-Martin & Associates. He had also worked at the Maple Grove Store and Carthage Marble Corp. Jack served in the U.S. Army as a tank commander in Germany. Jack was a member of the Carthage American Legion and the Webb City VFW Post 7630. He was very active in the Boy Scouts, serving as Cub Master, also serving on the board for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Jack was a member of the Fairview Christian Church in Carthage, MO.

 Jack was united in marriage to Nell Marie Goll on December 21, 1953. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Gail Condon of Tucson, Arizona and Karen Marie Wright of Carthage. One brother, Robert W. Brooks of Amarillo, Texas. Eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 17, 2014 at Fairview Christian Church, Carthage, MO.. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Fairview Christian Church. Burial will be in Avilla Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors Program.
