Virgil Weeks

Virgil Howard Weeks, 94, of Neck City, MO, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 11, 2014, surrounded by his family, following a brief illness. He was born September 20, 1920 in Preston, MO to the late Raymond H Weeks and Carrie Lasiter Weeks. He served in the United States Army for 23 years and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. After his military career, he worked at Schreiber Foods in Carthage, MO until his retirement in 1983.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marthann Elliott Weeks, a great grandson, Brandon Nemecheck, and two brothers, Elmer and Leroy Weeks. Survivors include his two daughters Carol Oxford (husband Michael) and Terri Spencer (husband Russell) of Joplin, MO; four grandchildren, Carie Booth (husband Mike) of Perry, KS, Lee Oxford (wife Carmen), Travis Spencer (wife Tara) of Joplin, MO and Kristopher Spencer (wife Katelyn) of Neck City, MO; four great grandchildren Brittany Nemecheck, Alicia, Justin, and Raynee Booth; two sisters, Helen Harris and Edith Brown of Carthage, MO; and many nieces and nephews. 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16 at Mason-Woodard Chapel with visitation to be held on Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. Interment with military honors will be at Ozark Memorial Cemetery, Joplin.
