Freda B. Carr, 81, of Girard, passed away at 6:53 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Girard Medical Center.
She was born March 13, 1933 at Gross, Kansas, the daughter of James Ted and Evelyn Naomi (Foltz) Smith. She graduated from College High. On December 20, 1950, she was united in marriage to E. Eugene Carr at the Nazarene Church in Pittsburg. Mrs. Carr was a homemaker. Membership was held in the Mount Olive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Carr of the home; five sons, David Carr and his wife, Kathy of Girard, KS, Jeff Carr and his wife, Janet of Riverton, KS, Allen Carr and his wife, Donna of Joplin, MO, Ronald Carr and his wife, Angie of Fort Scott, KS, and Donald Carr and his wife, Amy of Neosho, MO; two daughters, Debra Boyd and her husband, Daniel of Lenexa, KS and Janet Ashbacher and her husband, Mike of Arma, KS; a brother, Kenneth Smith and his wife, Debby of Woodstock, GA; and a sister, Greta Bone and her husband, Hervey of Girard, KS; sixteen grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Raymond Smith, Jim Smith, Jerry Smith, and Rollin Smith, Sr.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 30) at the Mount Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Girard City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. The family suggests memorials to the Mount Olive Baptist Church.
