Howard Samuel

Howard K. Samuel, 86, passed away Thursday October 9, 2014 in Carthage, MO. 

Howard was born March 2, 1928 in Oak Park, IL to William A “Bill” Samuel and Getrude “Conrodi” Samuel. Howard served in the United States Army in World War II. Howard was a PBX operator and repair man; he worked for AT&T Telephone and Pacific Bell in California he retired after 36 years of service. Howard was a Good Shepherd Lutheran Charter Member holding a variety of offices and serving as a trustee and elder he helped build the churches in1996 and 2001, Howard was active in the Thursday Bible study group and the over 50 group. Howard’s pastime was exotic birds, exotic bird clubs and building bird houses; he also enjoyed collecting old telephones.

Howard was united in marriage to Virginia Samuel November 22, 1974 in Riverside, CA, she survives. Howard is survived by one daughter Hope Marie Moore and husband Eddie of Boise, Idaho and one son Nelson Howard Samuel and wife Mary of Santa Cruz, California. Four grandchildren Timothy Samuel, Brian Samuel, Destinee Moore and Timothy Sawyer, one great grandson Max Samuel, one sister Grace Pauline Cox and husband Robert of Elm Hurst, IL, one daughter Warren Paul Samuel and wife Genaire of Bensenville, IL, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Howard was preceded by his parents and one brother Arthur F. Samuel. 

Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday October 12, 2014 at Good Shepherd Lutheran church. Inurnment will be at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
