Elmer Leroy Dewitt, age 72, Joplin, passed away at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Spring River Christian Village.
Elmer was born October 29, 1941 in Joplin to the late Elmer and Margaret Dewitt and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.
He had worked at Fleming Foods, Inc. for several years and retired from Americold, Inc., at the Carthage Underground as a night supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Pat (Callahan) DeWitt; one son, Shawn Dewitt; one granddaughter, Shelbie Dewitt; a sister, Janet Watson; and several other extended family members.
Elmer has been taken for cremation. No formal services are planned at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Humane Society, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Pat would like to welcome friends and acquaintances to feel free to send a card or stop by her home to share their stories of Elmer.
