Janet Livingston

Janet Ramona Livingston peacefully departed this life for her heavenly home on October 12, 2014. 

She was born March 10, 1931 in Jasper County to Walter and Edith Smith and always lived in the Joplin area. Janet was a graduate of Carl Junction High School and Joplin Business College. She worked seven years for Jenkins Music Company and twenty five years for General Electric Company in Joplin. Janet was a long time member and served in various leadership positions with the Joplin Soroptimist Club and the Joplin Women’s Club. She was a Board Member of the Arthritis Association and the Spring River Christian Village Auxiliary. She was a volunteer with both the St. John’s Auxiliary and Hospice groups and active with St. John’s Prestige. Janet became a Christian and a member of the Central City Christian Church in 1947. In 1960, she became a charter member of the Park Plaza Christian Church, serving and attending faithfully through the years.

 In 1954, Janet married Norman S. Price, who preceded her in death in 1986. In 1990, she married George R. (Bob) Livingston. He preceded her in death in 2013. In addition to her parents, Janet was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn V. Davis. She is survived by one brother, Bennett Smith of Webb City, and several nieces and nephews.

 Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary chapel with B.A. Austin officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Contributions are requested to the Spring River Christian Village Auxiliary in care of the mortuary.
