Richard “Jack” Glen Bemis, age 85 of Joplin, Mo passed was Wednesday November 2, 2016 at the Spring River Christian Village Nursing Home.
He was born on February 17, 1931 in Garden Grove, Ia the son of Sterling Webster and Marjorie Lenore Trinity Bemis. Jack was a veteran serving his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He married Sandra “Sandy” Jean Boyd on February 18, 1961 in Jasper, Mo. He worked for Eagle Picher as a supervisor and then as a gate guard for Meeks Lumber after retiring from Eagle Picher. He enjoyed tinkering with things, working in his shop and in the yard and collecting many items.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings. Survivors include his wife Sandy of the home, a daughter Tamara “Tammy” Comer and Daren Wilkinson, who Jack thought of as a son of Joplin, Mo, five siblings, grandson Jeremiah Comer and wife Bobbi, granddaughter Samantha Palmer and husband Christopher, special step granddaughter Kari Jo Russell, step grandson Christopher Russell and three great grandchildren Mackenzie, Kyler and Remington Palmer.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Friday November 4, 2016 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory. Memorial graveside will be held at 11 am Monday November 7, 2016 at the Ozark Memorial Park.
