Marian V. Roberts, age 88, of Lamar, passed away early Friday morning, November 4, 2016, at her home.
Marian was born November 1, 1928, in Wichita, Kansas, to Ervin and Mary (McCarthy) Seibert. On September 11, 1947, at Lamar, she married Lucky Roberts and they had shared nearly 55 years together before his passing on March 18, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Caroline Ray; a brother, Kenny Seibert; and a grandson, Seth Roberts.
In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Marian was vice-president and office manager for Line Service for more than 20 years. She had also worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Frank Horton for many years. Marian was an active member of First Baptist Church where she was instrumental in organizing a surviving spouses group. She was always eager to help wherever there was a need and cherished the fellowship of close friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing and playing bridge with friends at the Lamar Country Club. Marian was a member of Eastern Star Mount Hope Chapter #74 and Calla Rebekah lodge #160 I.O.O.F.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Carol Roberts, Pittsburg, Kansas; two grandchildren, Joshua Roberts, Pittsburg, and Nealy Roberts, Wichita; a great-grandson, Lucas Roberts; and special friends, Terry Taylor and family of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Children’s Miracle Network or Barton County Senior Center, in care of the funeral home.
