Cecil Floyd Block, 80, of Sarcoxie, Missouri passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center.
Cecil entered this life on January 26, 1938 in Joplin, Missouri to the union of the late Udo and Flora (Spor) Block. He was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School. On June 12, 1957 he was united in marriage to Laura Mavor Houck, together they shared sixty one years. In 2003 he retired from Schreiber Foods in Carthage, Missouri. Prior to that he had worked for Atlas Powder. He was also engaged in full time farming. Cecil was of the Independent Baptist faith. He enjoyed going to church, farming, gardening, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles “Chuck” Block; siblings, Kenneth Block, Irvin Block and Irene Huey.
Cecil is survived by his wife of the home; sons, Cliff Block, Carthage, Missouri, Clint Block of Sarcoxie, Missouri and Chris Block (Karen) of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Connie Phillips (Andrew), Timothy Block (Stormy), Thomas Block (Amanda), Candace Six (Taylor), Aaron Block, Andrea Block, Jacob Block (Rachael), Joe Block, Josh Block (Ebonee) and Rachel Block; sixteen great grandchildren; siblings, Rex Block (Dixie), Carthage, Missouri, Teddy Block, Eagle Rock, Missouri, Shirley Daubert (Ron), Joplin, Missouri, Wanda Dennison, Cassville, Missouri and Christina Craft, Hamptonville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Block are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, with Pastors Chris Block and Cliff Block officiating. Interment will follow in the Sarcoxie Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends Monday evening at the funeral home from 6-8:00 p.m. Those honoring his life my service as pallbearers are Cliff Block, Clint Block, Chris Block, Tim Block, Tom Block and Josh Block. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Block, Rex Block, Teddy Block and Jacob Block. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Sarcoxie Nursing Center in care of the funeral home.
