Clement C. “Clem” Filarski, age 86, of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday January 20, 2019, at Joplin Gardens, following an illness.
Clem was born on April 5, 1932 in Sarcoxie, Mo., the son of the late Barney and Genevieve (Shrader) Filarski. He has been a lifetime area resident. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Elizabeth Bischoff on January 14, 1956 in Joplin, together they raised three children. He was a Catholic. He worked as a boom truck operator for Leggett & Platt.
Clem was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Filarski in October 2014; one son David Filarski in June 2016; nine brothers, John, Fred, Tony, Tom, Raymond, Ed, Joe, Bill and Frank; and three sisters, Julia Hill, Helen McQuitty, and Rose Hill.
He is survived by one son, Rick Filarski and wife Jackie, Joplin; one daughter, Clara Williams, Villa Rica, Ga.; seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Jarel Burnside will officiate. Burial will be in Diamond Cemetery, Diamond, Mo.
The family will receive friends 4-5 p.m. Sunday at Mason-Woodard Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
