Gary Eugene Leberman was born February 6, 1936 in Leola, South Dakota, the son of Irvin G. and Edna (Brunmeier) Leberman. He entered into rest on February 25, 2019 in Neosho, Missouri, following an extended illness at the age of 83 years and 19 days.
Gary served in the U.S. Navy, Nov. 23, 1954 through November 22, 1962 as a hospital corpsman. He earned his masters degree at UNI and worked as an instructor at Iowa Central Community College for 23 years and retired in 1992. He moved to the Neosho area in 2000 from Fort Dodge, Iowa. He raised fancy pigeons and was a member of the Central Oriental Frill Club, the American Oriental Frill Club and Bokarha International Club. He was a member of the Neosho United Methodist Church.
Gary and Judith (Kroon) Gunter were married on December 2, 1992 in Eagle Grove, Iowa and she survives.
Additional survivors are three children, Kristan Gunter - Jirak of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kelli Becker of Marion, Iowa and Kirk Gunter of Palo, Iowa; three grandchildren, Noah Becker, Jesse Gunter and Chloe Jirak; one brother, Harvey Leberman of Friendship, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Eunice Peterson of Delwin, Iowa and Pat Carver and his father in law and mother in law, Henry and Gladys Kroon of Neosho. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Gary has been taken for cremation and services will be held at a later date.
