Richard Ivan Cullison, Sr., age 71, rural Fort Scott, Kan., passed away early Saturday morning, Feb. 23, 2019 in Medicalodges Nursing Home. He was born on Nov. 30, 1947 in Fort Scott, the son of Lloyd Isaac Cullison and Ellen Catherine Pellett Cullison.
He married Patricia Ann Prewett on April 7, 1970. She preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 1994. He was a 1966 graduate of the Fort Scott High School, went to work at Chanute Manufacturing and joined the Army in 1967. After his service in Korea, Richard returned to Fort Scott and made his home in Garland, Kan. Richard returned to work at Chanute Manufacturing and retired after 47 years. He and his family later moved to the family farm where he lived at the time of his death. Richard was a welder, farmer and stockman. He loved the employees, food and social time at Nu-Grille restaurant.
In addition to his wife, Pat, he was proceeded in death by his parents and youngest son, Stanley Lyn Cullison in 2007.

Survivors include son, Richard Cullison, Jr. and wife Deanna of Fort Scott, daughter Linda Newkirk of Lamar, Mo., a sister, Crystal Mason of Fort Scott, two granddaughters, Sydney Cullison and Tiffany Unruh and a great grandson, Xavier Unruh.
Pastor Rick Womack will conduct service 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019 at Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clarksburg Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165 VFW.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, 2019 at the funeral home.
Memorial are suggested to Drywood Township Community Center, a building project Richard was passionate to support, contributions may be left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall, P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, KS. 66701.
