Treva Janelle Graham Mincieli, born August 10, 1930 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, died peacefully surrounded by her children in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 21, 2019.
She grew up on a farm in southwest Missouri where her mother’s family lived. After graduating from high school, she enrolled at Kansas City General Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated with a diploma in nursing as a registered nurse in 1951 and later became a certified occupational health nurse in 1979.
As a gifted caregiver, Treva worked in numerous nursing positions at physicians’ offices and hospitals. She also served as a nursing instructor in the practical nursing program at Crowder Junior College in Neosho, Missouri. From 1974 to 1995 she served as an industrial/occupational health nurse at two large manufacturing companies in metropolitan Tulsa, Oklahoma. After her retirement, Treva began providing home health nursing through the Visiting Nurse Association of Tulsa. She loved this work because of the close interaction with patients. Treva’s children encouraged her to retire again at the age of 73.
As a faithful believer in Christ, Treva was always engaged in her church and Bible study activities. Additionally, she enjoyed singing, playing Bridge with friends, and traveling. She especially enjoyed cooking and hosting gatherings, the bigger the better. Treva’s love for cooking expanded when she married her second husband, John Mincieli, who was a fabulous Italian cook.
Treva was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, John Mincieli of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, her parents, Silas Graham and Rosa Graham Kritz of Neosho, Missouri, six siblings, and her first husband and father of her children, William (Bill) Scholes of Granby, Missouri.
Treva is survived by her children Lisa Scholes Marsellis (Lyle) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Peggy Scholes Nikkel (Lynn) of Collinsville, Oklahoma, and David Scholes (Cathy) of London, Arkansas. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Oklahoma Methodist Manor, 4134 E 31st St, Tulsa, OK 74135, for the excellent care given to Treva.
A graveside service will be held to celebrate Treva’s life and her home-going on March 2, 2019, 12:30pm, at Hazel Green Cemetery in Boulder City, Missouri.
