W. ‘Pete’ Cauthon, 80, Goodman, Missouri, entered into rest on February 16, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, following a year of failing health. Pete was born February 3, 1939 in Miami, OK, the son of Willard B. and Patricia E. (Holloway) Cauthon.
Pete was an educator, coach and bus driver at Goodman and Neosho schools and was fondly known as ‘Sir’ to his students. He then worked at Tri State Motor Transit for 30 years and then worked at R and R in Joplin. He was a cattle farmer and loved taking care of his cattle and farm and enjoyed leatherwork. He was a member of the Sheep Shed Church.
Pete married Bobbie J. (Ford) on December 28, 1992 at Goodman and she survives. Additional survivors include two children, Becky Ann (Ron) Wolbert of Midway, GA and J. W. Cauthon, II of Magazine, AR; three stepchildren, Lisa Washburn of Florida, Nicki Sarratt of Goodman and Evon Ford of Tennessee; one brother, C. D. (Vicki) Cauthon of Tryon, OK; eight grandchildren, Jamie Cauthon of Magazine, AR, Jessica Cauthon of Magazine, AR, Bobbie Lynn Vorrasi of Goodman, Nicholas James Vorrasi of Bentonville, AR, Dusty Sarratt of Goodman, Amanda Hill of Noel, Tiffany Lynn of Bentonville, AR and Anthony Talley of Florida and five great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter in law, Kimberly Geller Cauthon.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019 at 2 pm at the Sheep Shed on Gateway Drive in Neosho, Pastor Jock Evans will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mayfield Cemetery, Goodman and serving as pallbearers will be J. W. Cauthon, Dusty Sarratt, Matt Bickford, Keith Koley, Lonnie Cargile and Tim Williams; Mark Bickford will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Pete may be made to the Sheep Shed, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850.
