David John Claycamp, age 68, Joplin, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019 at a local nursing center after a brief battle with cancer.
David John was born January 11, 1951 in Blue Rapids, Kansas, son of the late Richard Leverne Claycamp and Mary Katherine Fischer Claycamp. He graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1969, and served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He worked several jobs over the years, including fork lift operator at General Mills, most recently for A.J.M. Packaging as a truck driver.
In addition to his parents, David John was preceded in death by a brother, David Claycamp, and a sister, Sharon Sutton.
Survivors include a daughter, Tiffany Herman and husband Jeremy of Joplin; a son, Rich Keith Claycamp and wife Shay of Granby, Missouri; step children, Christina Lynn Fleming of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Scott Allen Fleming of Joplin; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Virgil Claycamp and wife Kathy of Georgetown, Texas, and Bill Claycamp of Howard, Kansas; sisters, Pat Ellis and husband Ed of Kansas City, Missouri, and Thelma Eckstein of Hastings, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Robert Mattingly officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
