Ella M. Turpen age 93 of Alba, Missouri went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Carthage. She was born on July 1, 1925 in Carthage, Missouri to George N. Hunter and Morna (Griswald) Hunter.
Ella graduated from Alba High School in the class of 1943, was a homemaker and also helped her husband deliver milk on the milk route. She was a faithful member of the Purcell Baptist Church.
Ella married James Turpen on February 24, 1945 in Mt. Clemons, Michigan and he preceded her in death on October 28, 2006. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary in heaven together.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred Galloway, Adaline Hunter, Sam Hunter, Erma Dean Kimes, Anna Ruth Dishon, Helen Carpenter and Walter Hunter.
Ella is survived by her daughter, Judy Nelson and husband Gary of Webb City; and two grandsons, Roger Nelson and his wife Lisa Housh Nelson of Webb City, Michael Nelson and fiancé Tonya Blankenship of Carthage.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City with Pastor Ted Atnip officiating. The family will be present for visitation on Thursday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Purcell Baptist Church Building Fund in her memory.
