Myra Jane “Janie” Shafer, 87, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Oronogo, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at National Health Care Center in Joplin, Missouri.
Janie entered this life on September 30, 1933, in Oronogo, Missouri, born to the union of the late Lloyd and Leva (Morris) Shafer. She was a lifelong area resident and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Oronogo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Charles Shafer.
Janie is survived by a cousin, Larry Lacy and wife, Linda, of Oronogo; and a niece, March Kean and husband, Larry, of Webb City; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2020 at Oronogo Cemetery with Pastor Terri Haywood officiating. No formal visitation will be held. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City.
