(From Parker Mortuary)Lana Lou Williams, age 67, Webb City, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
Lana was born March 24, 1953 in Joplin to the late Archie Williams and Marjorie (Fellhauer) Williams and lived in the Joplin area all of her life.
Following graduation, Lana worked for Empire District Electric Company, Riverton, Kansas for several years. She then got into the real estate business, working as a closer for Jasper County Title, Charles Burt Realty and Bob Roy Realty.
She joined the City of Carl Junction in 1990, when she took over duties of operating the city pool, a job she kept until the summer of 2003. Lana also drove a bus for the Webb City School District for 25 years, retiring in 2016.
Lana attended Christ’s Church of Oronogo. She was a past member of First Baptist Church, where she led the children’s music and sang in the choir. She also sang with good friends Sheila Burger and Chris Durham in “Brand New Touch”.
Lana was known to everyone as, ‘MeeMe’ and was the queen of all snacks. Pool days with family were a cherished time, as well as supporting Missouri Southern Basketball as a long time Lionbacker. She never missed a game-whether it was for her daughter, Megan, or one of the grandchildren. She will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
She married Larry Jay Williams on March 11, 1973 in Carl Junction. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2017.
Survivors include her daughter, Megan Long and husband, Josh; grandchildren, Breckin Williams and wife, Morgan, Channing Mickey, Nickhai Howard, Austyn Mickey and Kirra Long.
Memorial services are planned for Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Christ’s Church of Oronogo with Josh Long officiating.
Out of extreme love and concern and due to the current COVID crisis, the family asks that those attending Monday’s service please practice social distancing and wear a mask. For those with concerns or who cannot attend, the family invites you to celebrate life in true ‘MeeMe’ fashion: put others before yourself and wear a mask, spoil your kids and grandkids, never miss a ball game, be the loudest fan there, buy all the things (multiples if you want), make every day a pool day and extend your heart and home so far that everyone you meet feels included and well loved!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Webb City Athletic Booster Club in care of the mortuary.
