Gladys Filarski

Mrs. Gladys Rose Filarski, 91, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center.

Gladys entered this life on November 2, 1929 in rural Sarcoxie, Missouri, to the union of the late John and Florence (Knoetzel) Szydloski. She was a 1947 graduate of Diamond High School. 

On May 23, 1953 she was united in marriage to Frank Filarski at Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Together they shared sixty-four years until his passing on June 9, 2017. 








For twenty-two plus years she was employed with Juvenile Shoe in Sarcoxie, as well as selling Avon products for twelve years. She became a Catholic at a very young age. Gladys was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Sarcoxie. She enjoyed crafts, going to the lake and spending time with her family and friends. She will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her siblings, John Szydloski, Wayne Szydloski, Helen Boursheski, Mildred Holland, Agnes Stroud and Pauline Raper.

Gladys is survived by several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Sarcoxie Cemetery with Father Matthew Rehrauer officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Dave Lawyer, Mike Chandler, Terry White, Larry Velten, Shane Pennington and Stan Pennington. Due to covid, masks are required for those attending the graveside service as well as social distancing.
