Martha Feltych

Martha Ruth Feltych, 102, of Joplin, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, at Freeman Hospital Joplin.

Martha was born November 30, 1918, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Paul Charles Kendrick and Essie Pearl (Smith) Kendrick. She lived in the Joplin area the majority of her life, graduating from the Kansas State Teachers College with a bachelor’s degree in education.

Martha worked as a secretary and was a longtime employee of the Joplin School District before retiring. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Joplin and enjoyed her Wednesday morning bible study group, who she considered more like family. 








Martha enjoyed playing bridge and craft day with the “girls”. Martha was an avid tennis player. She played well into her 80’s until she was no longer able. She had several lifelong friends whom she cherished. Her greatest love though, was her family and the wonderful memories created with them. Martha had a very generous nature and selfless heart. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

On November 24, 1946, Martha was united in marriage to Verne J. Feltych in Joplin, Missouri and together they shared 53 years before he passed on February 25, 2000.

In addition to her parents Martha was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sabrina Feltych.

Martha is also survived by her two daughters, Mary Lou Emrich and husband, John, Kendra Feltych; granddaughter, Megan Short and husband, Grant; great granddaughter, Chloe Short; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Joplin, in care of the mortuary.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
