Melba Atteberry

Melba Lee Weber Atteberry, 87, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 18, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO, after suffering a massive heart attack.

Melba was born March 3, 1933, in Wichita, KS, to Jesse Fiscus and Beulah Weber. They preceded her in death.

Melba is survived by three children, Cindy Lynne Fox, Tommy Ray Atteberry Jr. (Misti) of Carthage, MO, and Jonna Kay Kimmel of Webb City, MO; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Marcy Cherry, Reed Springs, MO, Joyce Ellis (Ray) Kansas City, MO, and Betty Haldeman (Bob), Savanna, GA.








Melba was preceded in death by her adopted parents "Mom and Pop" Hardy, Grandma Reedshaw, Aunt Alba, and multiple siblings.

Melba worked for many years at Cardinal Scales, Webb City, MO. She was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and each year a scholarship is granted in her name from SME at Pitt State University.

Her greatest pleasure was being an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, Carthage, MO. She was extremely excited to play a shepherdess in this years Christmas Eve Service. She was represented and honored by Sara Buelow, who stood in for her.

Melba was an avid STL Cardinal baseball fan. She watched every game and cheered them on. She also enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizen Center, Carthage, MO, having lunch with her friends and playing bingo.

She did amazing embroidery work and she gifted everyone with beautiful things she made, which will be cherished by everyone, especially her family.

Melba's ashes have been put to rest in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, MO.
