(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Jimmy Wayne Grimes of Pittsburg, KS passed from this life Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was 54.
Jimmy was born June 2, 1967 the son of Wayne "Burly" and Rayma (Smith) Grimes. Jimmy was a 1986 graduate of Picher-Cardin High School. He had lived in Pittsburg for 5 years, but lived in Picher and Baxter Springs most of his life.
He worked beside his father for 28 years at Leigh Manor Nursing Home in Picher. He currently was a chemical technician at Jayhawk Fine Chemicals in Galena, KS.
Jimmy was a member of Life Changers Church International in Pittsburg. He was a certified scuba diver and he loved to golf and fish. He was an avid OU Sooners football fan .
He was preceded in death by his mother Rayma Grimes.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Michelle "Shelly" Grimes of the home, 2 daughters, Ashleigh Grimes of Pittsburg, KS and Aleigh Grimes of Galena, KS, his father, Wayne "Burly" Grimes of Loma Linda, MO, 3 sisters, Kim Pace and her husband Jack and Janie Mantle and her husband Max of Loma Linda, MO and Lisa Berry and her husband Todd of China Spring, TX and 2 granddaughters, Oakleigh Randall and Jovie Randall.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Crossroads Christian Church in Baxter Springs, KS with Pastor Roger Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, southwest of Columbus, KS. Joe Allen Rickey, Charlrick Horn, Hunter Randall, Ernie Bunce, Rusty Bunce and Matthew Mantle will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Pace, Max Mantle and Todd Berry. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 22 at Crossroads Christian Church in Baxter Springs, KS. Memorials are suggested to the Jimmy Grimes Family Support Fund in care of any Arvest Bank location.
