Carol Woods

Carol “Nan” Woods, age 70, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. Carol, daughter of Russ and Wanda (Boman) Smith, was born on September 24, 1950, in Lebanon, Oregon. 

In 1996, she was united in marriage to Monty Woods. 

Over the years Carol, together with her sisters, Teresa and Lorrie, owned and operated numerous restaurants, including The Wagon Wheel in Diamond, The Donut Shop in Cassville, The Whistle Stop and the Sale Barn Café in Exeter, The Duck Inn and the Lindenwood Hotel in Purdy, and the Over the Hill Grill located at the Cassville Golf Course. Throughout this time many friendships were made with lasting memories, and Carol became known for her famous cinnamon rolls.








Carol, or “Nan” as most knew her by, loved her Lord and Savior with all her heart and beyond that nothing came before her family. Her family was always her number one priority but still she wasn’t afraid to set any of them straight. Carol always enjoyed having her house full with family gatherings and loved to cook for all of them. She loved to be around people and never met a stranger, had a huge heart, and was always putting the needs of others before her own. Carol enjoyed working on her flower beds and loved to give others a hard time. She was a member of the McDowell Community Church, and will forever be missed by all the lives she touched.

Survivors include her husband, Monty Woods, of Cassville; three daughters, Dana Clayton and her husband Jeff, of Freistatt, Amy Meadows and her husband Randy, of Cassville, and Shanna Garner and her husband Rockey, of Miller; two step-daughters, Anna Woods, of Cassville, and Melanie Woods, of Stotts City; one step-son, Matt Woods and his wife Callie, of Exeter; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorrie Ricklefs, of Monett; three brothers, Frank Smith and his wife Becky, of Stella, Alan Smith and his wife Sherrie, of Marshall, Arkansas, and Rusty Smith, of Joplin; her lifelong best friend, Sandy McClain, of Independence; and several nieces and nephews.

Nan was preceded in death by her parents, Russ and Wanda Smith and her sister, Teresa A. Miller who passed away on January 15, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020, at the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, with Brother Bryon Ozbun and Brother Steve Spillman officiating; burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Butterfield.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20th at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the McDowell Community Church in memory of Nan and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
