(From Parker Mortuary)James (Jim) Reed Kerr, age 86, Joplin, Missouri, passed away early in the morning on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at his home after an illness.
Jim was born on December 31, 1933, in Ozark, Missouri, to the late Emmitt and Ruth (Reed) Kerr.
He devoted his life to his work which included OTASCO, Walmart and Atwoods. His hard work and dedication are believed to be rooted in the determination of overcoming the loss of his left arm at a young age. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Baxter Springs and Oasis Church of Joplin.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth (Pilgrim) Kerr; Children, Kathalee Caissie, Jacksonville, Florida, Louann Karleskint, Grove Oklahoma, James Kerr, Jr., Carthage, Missouri, Mary Jo Loverton, Huntsville, Illinois, Carla Kerr and Darla Kerr, both of Joplin, Missouri, Sam Ware, Carl Junction, Missouri, Aaron Pilgrim, Joplin, Missouri, Julie Ware-Davey, Joplin, Missouri; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As well as dear friends, David and Peggy Pryor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Carol Kerr; sisters, Janiss Rhodes and Susan Helton, and son, Charles Cole.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at Risen Ranch Cowboy Church in the Ranch House on January 9, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. 10697 Cimarron Road Carthage, Missouri, 64836.
Hate to hear this sad news! Loved Jim.i have gone to atwoods just to say Hi and check on him after his recent surgeries! A genuinely nice person.Missing him now.
