(From Parker Mortuary)Robert Hugh Morton passed away December 16, 2020. Born to Beatrix May Smith Morton and Virgil Devere Morton on August 6, 1939. Robert was raised in the Cassville area except for a period during the second World War when he spent time in California while his mother helped built ships for the Allies.
After graduation Bob was involved in a variety of businesses, in his early life owning a Dairy Queen in Kansas City and selling insurance as well. Later he had several trucking related jobs, from owner operator, leasing, and driver recruitment.
Bob was also a farmer for several years, operating a cattle farm in the Nevada area.
He is survived by his devoted wife of the home, Rosalee Morton, one daughter Renee Moffat and husband Paul of Springdale, AR., grandson Cory Moffat and wife Katie of Fayetteville, AR., great-grandchild Kamden Moffat, daughter of Cory and Katie, and granddaughter Kimberly McClure and husband Blaine of Fayetteville, AR.
It is said of some people that they never met a stranger, in Bob’s case, this was absolutely true. He enjoyed visiting with everyone, people both known and just met. In his later years one of his favorite pastimes was to sit down and play cards with friends and strangers alike.
Per his wishes, graveside service will be Monday, 1:00 p.m. in Sparks Cemetery, Butterfield, Missouri with Pastor Clair Uitts officiating.
The family would express gratitude to the Integrity Hospice Group for their care and assistance through this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Hospice of their choice.
