(From Clark Funeral Home)On Thursday, December 3, 2020, Lewis Lavern Heater, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, went to be with the Lord, at the age of 92.
Lewis was born December 23, 1927 in Guthrie Center, Iowa to Druella and Clint Heater. Lewis was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Army. He was commissioned as a sharpshooter and medic where he served at Walter Reed Medical Center. He received the WWII Victory Medal for his service.
Lewis worked in commercial refrigeration in Denver, CO over twenty years, then semi-retired, moving to Racine, MO in 1974 to raise cattle; he also bought and sold real estate. He was an avid gun enthusiast, auction-goer, and collector. He loved to dance, work with his properties, and visit with family, friends, and even strangers.
Lewis married Marylin Lloyd on September 2, 1956.
He is survived by Marylin, his loving wife of 63 years and three children, Randall Heater and wife, Maritza, Ruth Conner and husband, Jim, and Reta Kraft and husband, Paul. In addition, he is survived by six loving grandchildren, Justin Conner, Kassie Bridges, Megan Wilkes, Lewis Heater, Jenny Gilbert, and Elyn Heater and five great grandchildren, Kasen Bridges, Clancey Jones, Lynnlee Wilkes, Norah Gilbert and August Gilbert.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Gibson Cemetery, Neosho, MO. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations to honor Lewis be made to Ronald McDonald House, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850.
