Lawrence Allen

Richard Lawrence Allen Jr., age 20, of Pittsburg, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at his home in Pittsburg.

Lawrence, son of Richard L. Allen Sr. and Shanon Mayes, was born on April 14, 2002 in El Paso, TX. He grew up in Joplin and the surrounding area attending school and high school at Webb City and then moved to Pittsburg in 2016. 

During his time at Pittsburg High School, he was a member of the track and field team where he set high school and state records in pole vaulting. 

Soon after graduation, he attended Fort Scott Community College where he studied construction management. He was currently employed with CDL Electric in Pittsburg. Lawrence enjoyed being with friends and spending time with his sisters. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his mother, Shanon Mayes; his father, Richard L. Allen Sr.; two sisters, Briana Allen and Shyla Allen; grandparents, Terri Mayes and Richard and Mary Allen; his great grandmother, Betty Allen; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Freedom Warship Center in Granite City, IL with visitation beginning at 5:00 PM until service time at 6:00 PM.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
