Mike Galbraith

(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)

Michael Dale Galbraith Sr, 76, of Webb City, Missouri, was a mighty fine man who would always say, “I’m doing better than I deserve."

He teased and joked his way out of mortality after nibbling on a couple of bites of vanilla ice cream on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at NHC in Joplin, Missouri. Three of his daughters were nearby, singing to him and yakking his ear off.

Mike was born July 12, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents, Christopher E. and Shirley Harmon Galbraith preceded him in death. His siblings are Charles (who has since graduated mortality), Gerald, Leonard, Gordon, Melvin, Louise, and Dennis.

He married a smokin’ hot babe, Rita Stubbs (she’s been waiting for him to join her in heaven for over 6 years) on June 22, 1968, in Los Angeles, California. He is the father of seven rather pulchritudinous children and some fine kids-in-law: Misti and husband Tony Rennick of Swansea, Massachusetts, Michael Jr. and wife Beth of Palm Bay, Florida, David Galbraith of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Cassandra and husband Bryan Cleveland of Carthage, Missouri, Cathryn and husband Troy Burt of Diamond, Missouri, Suzanna and husband Kevin of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Nanette and husband Aaron Lemmon of Webb City, Missouri. He has 22 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Mike was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities (including a mission to the southern states when he was a young man). He also spread love everywhere he went.

He was also a proud American and served in the Army during the Vietnam war. He prided himself on being an Administrator of Justice, possessed an impressive vocabulary, and almost unmatched Scrabble skills.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Joplin with Bishop Heath Merkley officiating. Burial will follow at Oronogo Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City.

  3. Mike is my older brother of 72 years. I dearly loved his story telling when we were young. When the lights went out at bedtime, we would beg him to tell his stories. Mike told his stories, describing them detail by detail, as if he was a big time TV News Reporter. So vivid storytelling, we could picture the events in our minds as we listened.
