(From Parker Mortuary)Norma Ruth Henry, age 84, Joplin, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Mercy of Joplin with family at her side.
Norma was born April 23, 1938 in Lathrop, Missouri, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Porter and Dorotha Lee (Currell) Porter. She grew up in Stanberry, Missouri and graduated from Stanberry High School. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.
She has held different jobs over the years, including several years with Dixie Printing, was a volunteer with Crosslines, and was a member of the Quilting Club.
She married Frank Cogdill and the couple had two children, J. Scott Cogdill and Angela (Cogdill) Kunce. She was also married to Rex Henry, and through this union she received two additions, Mike Henry and Brenda Powell. She lived for her church and her church family, and was especially attentive to her kids and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by both of her husbands.

Survivors include her children, J. Scott Gogdill and wife Julia of Asbury, Missouri and Angela Kunce and husband Ed of Joplin; step-children, Mike Henry and wife Claire of Franklin, Tennessee, and Brenda Powell and husband John of Joplin; grandchildren, Abby Wilkins and husband Matt of Carl Junction and Travis Kunce and wife Stacey of Oronogo, Missouri; great grandchildren, Justice Ely Moore of Carl Junction, Paisley Michelle Kunce, Joselyn Kunce, and Whitley Kunce all of Oronogo; and her special friend, Rusty Kunkler of Joplin.
Graveside services will be Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Fred Pugh officiating.
There will be a family gathering following the service at the granddaughter’s home.
