Steven Morey

Steven L Morey, age 70, passed away at 7:55 pm, Friday, March 31, 2023 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Missouri following an illness

Steven was born August 12, 1952, in Wichita, KS. His parents were Clifford and Dorothy (Moore) Morey. He attended Galena schools with the class of 1971. He moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida living there over 30 years. He worked for Sea Ray Boats in Cocoa Beach. Steve returned to Galena 7 years ago.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially deep sea fishing, surfing, listening to music, and making videos.

Steven is survived by two sisters, Roseanne Peters, Galena and Janell Morey, Joplin; two aunts, Mary Ellen Jones, Springfield, MO, and Ruby Saenze, Miami, OK; one sister-in-law, Gail Morey, Titusville, FL; nephews, Kyle Morey, Matthew (Johnnia), Jesse (Stephanie,) and Adam (Brittany) Wammack ; niece, Tamada Morey, Galena; great nieces, Sarayea Morey, Maycee Adams, and Violet Morey, Autumn., Mattilyn, Kaylee and Savannah Wammach; great nephews, Adam and Andrew Wammack, Wrigley Wammack; a very close cousin, Frank Osborne, Tulsa, OK; and a special close friend, Karen Diedrich, Summerville, SC, her daughter, Cheryl Mitchell, and her grandson, Bobby Mitchell who affectionately called Steven “Pappa”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Vivian Jones, and one brother, Kenneth Morey.

He was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. He will be laid to rest in Galena Cemetery, Galena, KS.
