John H. Wagaman Jr, 85, of Lamar, passed away March 2, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
John was born April 18, 1931 to John H and Aileen (Von Gunten) Wagaman at 305 Broadway in Lamar MO. John attended Lamar Schools and graduated in 1949. He attended the University of Mo. Where he played football and was a member of PI KAPPA PHI fraternity. He was a member of the United States Air Force and served honorably in the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Eighth Fighter-Group Association and was active in the American Legion and served in the honor guard with the local VFW Post 3691. He was active in many service groups and as trustee on many local boards including, The Barton County United way, The Barton County Memorial Hospital and The Barton County Mental Health Board. He was also active in the Springfield Elks Club, several Masonic organizations, a life member of the Barton CO Historical Society and past president of the Four-County Bank Association. He was a member of the Lamar First Baptist Church for over 50 years.
John is survived by his wife Nora of 63 years, daughter Shirley Beer of Pittsburg, Kansas, son John H. Wagaman and wife Kathy of Freemont Hills , MO, daughter Elizabeth Ann Gann of Waynesville, MO, four grandchildren, Vanessa Chasm (Brian), Lauren Greenberg (Caleb), Tom Wagaman and Tim Wagaman, and one great grandson, Ezra Chasm.
Services will be held at the Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar, Monday March 6 at 2 P.M. There will be a brief visitation at 1:30 P.M prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Lake Cemetery.
