Curtis Dougherty

Curtis W. Dougherty, 59, of Parsons, formerly of Thayer, died at 9:10 A.M, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Promise Hospital in Overland Park.

He was born February 24, 1959 at Parsons, a son of Wayne Edgar and Georgianna “Ann” (Reece) Dougherty. He grew up in Thayer and attended school there. During that time he worked as a custom harvester with his parents. He later attended the Pittsburg State College and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He then moved to Parsons and began employment with Southeast Kansas Independent Living and was currently working there.

He was a member of the Thayer United Methodist Church. He enjoyed baseball, football, fishing, and the Pitt State Gorillas. He was a music enthusiast also.



Survivors include: one daughter and son in-law – Rachel and Todd Moffett, Carthage, MO; two grandchildren – Eden and Jace, Carthage, MO; his step-mother – Clara M. Barker-Dougherty, Thayer, KS; one sister – Ruth Lloyd, Hutchinson, KS; three aunts – Mary Turner, Thayer, KS, June Bye, Thayer, KS, Fern Lewis, Northern AZ; one uncle – Charles Reece, San Antonio, TX; one nephew – Major David Lloyd, Ft. Hood, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Thayer Methodist Church with Pat McReynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Harrison Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until service time Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to S.K.I.L. and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O.
