Hazel Thurman

Mrs. Hazel Irene Thurman, 75, of Pineville, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after a recent decline in health.

Hazel entered this life on July 12, 1943, in Chanute, Kansas, daughter of the late Cleo and Alice (Lacey) Laughlin. Hazel has resided in McDonald County Missouri, since 1954. On August 4, 1961, she was united in marriage to Eugene Thurman and to this union three sons were born. She was employed by Hudson Foods in Noel, Missouri for several years before working at the Walmart warehouse in Bentonville, Arkansas. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, gardening, her dogs and lending a helping hand to those around her. Hazel was a member of the Valley View Church in Pineville, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Thurman; and two siblings, Doris Smith and Jack Trammell.

Hazel is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Eugene Thurman of the home; two sons, Tony Thurman and wife, Rita, of Neosho and Roger Thurman and wife, Kathi, of Anderson; four grandchildren, Kyle, Scott, Shelbi and Dalton; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Gladys Self of Cave Springs, Arkansas, Jean Testerman of Anderson, Edna Mitchell of Greenfield, Missouri and Opal Hames of Goodman; a brother, Vern Laughlin of Gravette, Arkansas; an honorary son, Ronnie Canon of Dayton, Texas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thurman will be held graveside on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri, with Kevin Sammons officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Kyle Thurman, Scott Thurman, Dalton Thurman, Caleb Lewallen, Glen Sammons, George Armstrong, Randy Sammons and Ronnie Canon.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
