Ruth Lefler

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Jessie Ruth (Harris) Lefler died on December 27, 2018 at the age of 90 years and 8 months. She was born April 12, 1928 near Exeter, Missouri, the next to youngest of twelve children born to William and Pearl Harris. The family soon moved to Boulder City, Missouri where she attended one-room Hazel Green School. She graduated from Stella High School in 1945.

She met James Harold Lefler while working at Stella Hospital where his mother was a patient. They married December 14, 1946 and had two daughters, Sherry Lee and Sandra Lynn. Harold preceded her in death in 1992 after 45 years of marriage.

Ruth worked alongside Harold in their grocery store in Goodman and later in businesses in Springfield. They returned to Goodman where Harold finished his career as postmaster and Ruth worked for a few years in the Goodman School cafeteria. She was a hard worker, a fastidious housekeeper, an excellent cook and relished being able to take care of others.

She lived her last years in Joplin, most recently at Silver Creek Assisted Living.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth is preceded in death by ten siblings and their daughter, Sandy.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Sherry and Charles Buchanan, Joplin; her brother, Jarvey Harris, Neosho; her grandson, Brandon Beshears, Anderson; two great grandchildren, Kennedy and Hunter, one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 at 3 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho; Pastor Jim Martin will officiate. She will be laid to rest at the Hazel Green Cemetery in Boulder City with Harold, Sandy and all of her Harris loved ones.
