Maxine Foster

Helen Maxine Foster, age 93, of Lamar, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Carthage Health and Rehab Center.

Maxine was born February 18, 1925, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Richard Bland Glass and Fleta Gay (Kanatzar) Glass. She graduated from high school in Worland, Wyoming in 1943. On October 8, 1945, she married Jack William Foster and they made their home in Kansas City, Clay Center, and Atchison, Kansas before moving to Barton County. During WWII, she worked on milling machines at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. She also had taught grade school for one term at Oak Grove School in Barton County and was an Avon representative. Maxine was always active in the church, teaching Sunday School, helping in the youth group and women’s group, and had served as church secretary for several years. While living in Barton County, Maxine was active at Grace Christian Assembly near Verdella.

Survivors include her children, Shirley (Clay) Cornell, Lewisberg, Pennsylvania, Jewell (Gynith) Foster, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Terry (Carolyn) Foster, Blanchard, Oklahoma, and Rosalyna Kay Foster, Lamar; a sister, Dorothy Small, Worland, Wyoming; 14 grandchildren, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Everett Glass; two sisters, Delpha Nordstrom and Phyllis Glass; a granddaughter, Charlene Swaim; two grandsons, Zachary Pipes and Ayden Wood; and two great-great grandbabies.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 Friday, December 28, 2018 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in St. James Cemetery north of Milford, Missouri.
