Phillip Dykes

Philip M. Dykes, 74, of Parsons, died at 12:10 A.M., Monday, December 10, 2018 at his home.

He was born March 10, 1944 at Walnut, a son of Leon Harris and Angela M (Baer) Dykes. He was raised in the Walnut area and attended a country school. He later attended the Labette County High School for a short time. He began working at Paola on the pipeline in his early twenties and later worked at Ankortite (now Dayton Superior). He later was employed for many years at the Missouri-Kansas-TexasRailroad and after it merged with Union Pacific, he returned to Dayton Superior. He retired in 2010.

On June 20, 1965 he and Donna L. Riffel were united in marriage at Erie. She survives of the home.

He was a member of Center Bethel Church. He loved model trains and enjoyed fishing and reading.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters and sons in-law – Rene and Joe Cosby, Parsons, KS, Regina and Jeff Buckley, Galena, KS; one granddaughter – Grace Cosby, Parsons, KS; one step-grandson – Corey Cosby, Parsons, KS; two brothers – Chris Hill, Galena, KS, Chet Massoth, Carthage, MO; one sister – Melody DePoy, Bartlesville, OK. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter - Rebecca Lynn Dykes and one brother – Greg Baer.

Cremation will take place and a private memorial service will be held later. Online condolences may be left at www.wallfuneralservices.com. Arrangements are under the directions of the Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Parsons.
