Mary Martha Condon 95 years of age peacefully passed away following a short illness on Friday, December 7, 2018.
Martha was born October 17, 1923, to LeRoy and Mary Engle Etcheson. One of eight children, Martha grew up in the Nashville, Missouri community on the family farm. She started teaching after graduation from Jasper High School. During WWII, she, her sister, and two cousins were Rosie Riverters working on planes in St. Louis. She returned home to continue teaching in rural schools and Jasper R-5 for a total of 38 years. While teaching, she met and married Cloyde Allen Condon. They were married 49 years when he passed away. Three children were born to their union: Jan (Neal) VanGilder, Denny (Daria) Condon, and Myra (Steve) VanGilder.
Martha loved her six grandsons - Dusty (Christal), Andy (Megan), Travis (Patricia), Craig (Steffany), Cory (Elise), and Colter. As well as her great-Grandchildren - Gavin, Rylee, Shelby, Clayton, Cameron, William, McCormick, Zinnia, Eliza, Draven, Drew, Arabella Kate, Breklyn, Aspen, and Gauge.
Martha loved her church family, her Maple family, Bingo, playing cards, Line dancing, and travel. She loved going out to eat with her brother Sam Etcheson and her sister Lois Baird.
Other survivors include her sister-in-law Iris Osborn and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, December 10, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:00 at Jasper First Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Jasper First Baptist Church with burial will follow in Waters Cemetery.
Remembrances for Martha can be made to the Jasper First Baptist Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar.
