J. L. Martin

J.L. Martin, 78, of Anderson, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri, after an illness.

J.L. was born February 24, 1940, to the late George and Lela (Littlefield) Martin. J.L. was a lifelong resident of McDonald County. He married Betty S. Lewis on February 17, 1959 in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jerry Lin Martin and spouse Patricia. He was the last surviving sibling being preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one daughter Kelly D. Griffith and husband, Rocky, of St. James, Missouri; grandchildren, Megan Pryor and husband, Dereck, of Salem, Missouri, Josh Leemasters and wife, Nikki, of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Lindsey Martin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kolby Griffith and wife, Rene, of St. James, Missouri and Reagan Griffith also of St. James, Missouri; as well as six great-grandchildren and several four legged friends.

J.L. loved being outdoors and was most often found tinkering, piddling or cutting wood. He loved telling stories, visiting with family, friends, and neighbors and spinning a tale often intertwined with a famous J.L. euphemism.

Services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 and service at 11:30. Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website, www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
