Roy Dickens

Roy Lee Dickens was born August 13, 1944 in Rocky Comfort, Missouri, one of six children to Gladsy and Geneva (Bertalotto) Dickens. He entered into rest on December 1, 2020 in Springfield, Missouri, following a short illness at the age of 76. 

Roy graduated from Rocky Comfort High School and was a lifelong southwest Missouri resident. He was an over the road truck driver starting an over 40 year career of driving with Willis Shaw Express and ending his driving career with SHI Trucking Company. 

He logged over six million accident free miles, was named Arkansas Driver of the Year in 1991 and was twice named to the top 10 of drivers by a national trucking association. He enjoyed antique cars, attending car shows, watching westerns and spending time with his grandchildren. 








 Roy and Ella Widson-Garner were married on September 6, 2000 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and she survives. 

Additional survivors include three children, DeAnn (Jeff) Lehigh of Hensley, Arkansas; Penny Dickens and companion, Doug Tatum of Reeds, Missouri and Tony (Tandy) Dickens of Webb City, Missouri; one stepson, Dean Garner of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Delanie Dickens, Charles Lehigh, Colsen Dickens, Greysen Dickens and Brelynn Dickens and two sisters, Joy (JR) Burr of Stark City, Missouri and Betty Sue (Jim) Jones of Lees Summit, Missouri. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant brother and two sisters, Virgie Stephens and Mary Spencer.
