Harvey Smith

James Harvey Smith, Sr. passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 in Quapaw, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. He was born June 20, 1937, in Devil’s Promenade, Oklahoma, the son of William F. Smith Sr. and Mattie Pearl (McKibben) Smith.
 
Harvey served in the US Army. He worked as a Chef most of his life, even into retirement as he would be requested for big holiday parties. He continued to enjoy cooking even after he physically couldn’t do it anymore by passing his knowledge on to his grandkids. In addition, he loved the OU Sooners and the St. Louis Cardinals.








Harvey is survived by daughter and son-in-law: Brenda and Steve Bedford of Granville, MA; son and daughter-in-law: James and Debbie Smith of Hillsdale, MI; son: Donald Smith of Norman, OK; step-son and son-in-law: Chuck and Scott Redfern-Peterson; his grandchildren: Brian Bedford of Lawton, OK; Sarah Bedford of Vernon, CT; Zachary and Suzanne Shepherd of Jonesville, MI; Jacob and Mindy Smith of Coldwater, MI; Amy and Sean Salas of Grand Junction, MI; Rebekah and Daniel Lee of Puyallup, WA and Jeremy Smith of Norman, OK; his great-grandchildren: Maria Salas, Connor Salas, Felix Salas, Luis Salas, Natalia Salas, Clara Salas, Margaret Lee, Tristan Smith, Delilah Smith, Zophia Shepherd and Hazlee Shepherd; sister: Ruth McConnell of Perkins, SC; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his grandson: David Bedford; sisters: Mary Lou Smith, Virginia Lawson, and Alma Blair and his brother: William Smith.

Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
