(From Parker Mortuary)Esther E. Francis, age 88, of Carl Junction, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Joplin Gardens in Joplin, MO.
Esther, daughter of the late Kenneth and Clara (Marth) Thompson, was born on April 27, 1934, in Rosendale Township, MN.
Soon after completing high school, Esther was united in marriage to Orville Francis on January 28, 1954, in St. James, MN. Together they started the first waste removal company in St. James which they owned and operated until retiring to Arizona in 1983.
She worked many years as a bookkeeper both in St. James, MN, and later as Executive Secretary and Bookkeeper in Mesa, AZ. On October 29, 2012, Orville Francis passed away in Mesa, AZ. Soon after, Esther moved to Carl Junction to be closer to family. Esther was a talented artist and enjoyed painting, drawing, crocheting and loved geneaology research.
Survivors include her children, Bonnie Zorn, and her husband, Keith, of Carl Junction, Lee Francis and Todd Francis, both of St. James, MN, and Tim Francis, of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Joel Zorn, Brandi Zorn Beene and husband James, Nick Francis, and wife, Stephanie, Tasha Sargent and husband Matt, Michelle Odegard and friend Scott Anacker, Amber Francis, and Chelsey Francis and husband Leo; siblings, Clarence Thompson, Paul Thompson, and his wife, Esther, and Harlan Thompson, all of MN; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, and husband, Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband and by two brothers, Arthur Thompson, and Murvin Thompson, two sisters, Grace Carstensen, and Joyce Blowers, stepsister, Joan Montemurno , a grandson, Brandon Francis, and a great-grandson, Gabriel Francis.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Parker Mortuary with Reverend Bob Simon officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. Memorial contributions may be to the Mercy Health Foundation or to Joplin Gardens and may be entrusted to the mortuary. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Joplin Gardens for the exceptional care given to Esther during her time as a resident.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
