Kathryn Sandlin

Kathryn Sandlin, 58, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on August 31, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri. She was born on April 5, 1968, in Joplin, Missouri, and lived a life marked by love, kindness, and intelligence.

Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her. She is survived by her loving husband, Kelly Sandlin; her son, Jonathon Spencer; her daughter, Samantha Sader; and her sister, Leann Eaton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby Eaton and Linda Montee. Family was at the center of Kathryn's life, and she cherished the time she spent with those she loved most.

Kathryn graduated from Galena High School and later attended classes at Missouri Southern State University. She carried the values she learned throughout her education into every part of her life, meeting each day with determination, thoughtfulness, and genuine care for others. Her intelligence and steady spirit were evident to all who knew her, and she was admired for the grace with which she faced life's many seasons.

Kathryn dedicated her working years to the Joplin school district, where she served with commitment and a kind heart. Her work reflected her belief in the importance of community and the value of supporting others. She made a lasting impression through her dependable nature and her willingness to help wherever she was needed. Those who worked alongside her will remember her as someone who brought both professionalism and compassion to her role.

Kathryn had a deep love for art and creativity. She began by drawing artwork with pens and pencils and later embraced digital art, where her talent continued to grow. Through that artistic journey, she illustrated, wrote, and drew the artwork for her children's book. On September 30, 2020, OL' Rascal was released on Amazon, and it continues to bring smiles to her readers. Her creativity was a reflection of her imagination and her desire to share joy with others.

She also loved to travel, and one of her favorite memories was seeing the landscape of Hawaii with her husband, Kelly, for the first time. That experience remained especially meaningful to her, as it combined her love of adventure with the happiness of being beside the person she loved. Kathryn treasured moments that allowed her to explore, appreciate beauty, and make lasting memories.

Kathryn will be remembered as a loving, kind, and intelligent woman whose life touched many. Her family and friends will hold close memories of her laughter, her creativity, her faith, and her unwavering love. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the legacy she leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary on Thursday, September 17th from 5 to 8 p.m.
