Frances Thomas

Frances Maxine (Ott) Thomas, age 89, was born on November 26, 1936 in Lockwood, Missouri. Frances was the daughter of Lizzie (Moenning) Ott and William T. Ott. She lived in Lockwood, Jasper, Arcola, Greenfield, and St. Charles, Missouri. She married Harold Lee Thomas Sr. on September 6, 1953, and together they shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. Frances passed away on September 16, 2026 in St. Charles, Missouri.

Frances worked for JCPenney, Paramount Cap Factory, and H&R Block. She was also the owner and hairstylist of Stylette Beauty Shop and later owned and operated HT Realty and Tax Service.

Throughout her life, Frances was actively involved in numerous charitable and community organizations, holding many offices within each. Some of her memberships included Grand Cross of Color of the Rainbow for Girls, Cherchez La Femme of the Boy Scouts of America, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Social Order of the Beauceant.

Frances loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed antiquing, metal detecting, and a variety of outdoor activities. She especially enjoyed the adventure of searching for Bigfoot, UFOs, and other unexplained inter-dimensional phenomena.

Most of Frances's family and friends would describe her as delightfully zany, much like Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy, with a heart of gold. Her sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and genuine love for others brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Thomas Sr.; her son, Harold Thomas Jr.; her brother, Robert Ott; and her sister, Henrietta (Ott) Lowrance.

She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Grass and Ann Atchison.

Her grandchildren include Heather Witham, Stephen Witham, Lisa Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Liz Thomas, Kenny Atchison, and Bridget Atchison.

She was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Izzy, Ethan, Louis, Megan, and Zach. Frances is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Fellowship Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Masonic Home of Missouri. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
