Jim Beck

Dr. James "Jim" S. Beck, M.D. aged 86, passed away on September 18, 2026, at his home in Grove, Oklahoma. Born on August 27, 1940, in Cassville, Missouri, Jim led a life marked by dedication, compassion, and a profound respect for both nature and his country.

Jim was a graduate of Cassville High School, followed by earning an agricultural degree from Southwest Missouri University and then a medical degree, graduating magna cum laude from the University of Missouri Columbia. His educational journey set a strong foundation for his dual careers in medicine and ranching. 

His commitment to service was further exemplified during his time with the Civilian Army Medical Corps, where he served for two years immunizing for smallpox among remote Indian tribes and treated patients from the Vietnam War in Atlanta, GA. His medical acumen and dedication to healthcare were profound, impacting countless lives.

On December 29, 1973, Jim married the love of his life and partner, Sara Sollazzo, in Scottsdale, AZ. Together they shared 54 wonderful years and made many treasured memories. Through all the highs and lows of life, their love for each other only grew stronger.

Professionally, Jim was a doctor that ran his own medical practice in Scottsdale, Arizona, for 28 years, and remarkably he continued to maintain his medical license to this day. In 1975, Jim purchased a 1300-acre ranch in Wyandotte, OK and in 1989, Jim sold his practice and moved with his family to Grove. Here, his first love—cattle ranching—flourished, and he became a long-standing member of the Cattlemen's Association.

Jim's personal interests were as rich and varied as his professional life. In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Known in the neighborhood for his love of animals, Jim was often seen feeding foxes and other local wildlife, reflecting his gentle, caring nature.

A man of solid, foundational values, Jim believed in living honorably and humbly. His conservative outlook and belief in the core values of his country shaped his interactions and contributions to his community. He was a true patriot who lived by the principle of speaking softly but carrying a big stick.

Jim was full of spirit and life and had a special connection with his creator. He loved family, music, laughter and life in general. Jim's legacy is carried on by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his compassionate spirit and unwavering integrity.

Jim Beck will be profoundly missed and forever remembered as a beacon of knowledge, kindness, and respect. 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hazel Beck and his sister, Jane Newton.

Left to cherish his memory, wife of 54 years, Sara Beck and their two sons, Justin Beck and wife, Juztina of New York, New York and Jarrett Beck and wife, Megan of Ft Collins, Colorado. Son, David Beck and daughter, Jennifer Beck; grandchildren, Jack and Jameson Beck, Kaden, Conner, Summer and Hunter Beck; sister, Joyce Meador and husband, Geary of Pittsburg, Kansas and nephew, Shannon Meador of Wyandotte, Oklahoma.
