(From Ozark Funeral Home)Bonnie June Smith, 81, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday morning, September 19, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the peace and familiarity of the place she loved.
She was born on December 19, 1944, in rural Stoddard County, Missouri, to the late James Dewey and Ruthie (Lacey) Fourthman. Bonnie was one of seven children and was raised in Wardell, Missouri, where she learned the values of hard work, family devotion, and quiet strength that would guide her throughout her life.
On October 6, 1962, Bonnie was united in marriage to Herbert Smith and to this union two daughters and a son were born. They made their home in Chicago, where Bonnie worked for Motorola. In the early 1970s, they moved to Anderson, Missouri, where she continued her working life at Emerson Electric in Rogers.
Bonnie found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time visiting with her family. Her greatest happiness came from being with her loved ones, and she treasured every opportunity to share conversation, laughter, and memories with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Smith, on June 27, 2024; an infant son, Herbert Dewayne Smith; a grandson, Zachary James Gaxiola; son-in-law James Gaxiola and a brother, Leroy Forthman.

Bonnie is survived by her two daughters, Evelyn Gaxiola of Anderson, Missouri, and Sonja Talley and her husband, Richard, also of Anderson; a grandson, Landon Talley; three brothers, Henry, Thomas, and Dewey Fourthman; two sisters, Mary Young and Rosie Morefield; as well as a host of other family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri, with Raymond Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Pineville Cemetery. Those honoring Bonnie’s life by serving as pallbearers are Gene Smith, Calvin Young, Clint Teague, Mark Talley, Carl Talley and Landon Talley. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
